CNA (Pre-Certification) Internship - Laguna Hills HS

Students participating in this class must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, including a booster shot, as required by the internship site.
UC / 10 credits
Learn the necessary skills to become a certified nurse assistant. Assist patients with basic personal needs such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation. Practice techniques of infection control, measure and record vital signs, and recognize psychosocial needs. After initial classroom instruction, intern at a skilled nursing facility.
To meet the UC/CSU admission requirements (“G” credit), students must earn a grade of 70% or better.
IMPORTANT NOTICE 1: During the clinical portion of this class, the instructor and students will be tested weekly for COVID-19. This is required by the skilled nursing facility for the protection of their patients and is at no cost to the student. Students who decline COVID-19 testing may not enroll in this class.
IMPORTANT NOTICE 2: Health occupations classes include the study of reproductive and other systems and require practicing procedures on other students and/or patients, both male and female, of differing ages. Participation in these activities is required for a certificate of completion and continuation in the career pathway. Additionally, these classes may require heavy lifting and bending. Lastly, some programs require the submission of personal information, such as DOB and social security numbers, with state agencies and/or clinical internship partners due to licensing and security clearance requirements.
Certification: Students will be eligible to take the written and performance examination to become a State Certified Nurse Assistant upon successful completion of the course with a 75% or better. Students will earn the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers card.
Prerequisites: Students must be at least 16 years of age and preference is given to seniors. Students must be responsible for their own transportation to and from the internship site. Students must bring their original Social Security card, a valid government-issued ID, COVID-19 vaccination card, and COVID-19 Permission form (provided by Coastline ROP) to the first class session or they will be dropped. Live Scan fingerprinting, physical exam, TB clearance, and vaccinations are required for all students prior to internship. Students must earn a grade of 75% or better in the classroom portion of the course to be placed at an internship site.
Required Hours: 2 Saturdays Required - dates and times to be determined. It is recommended that individuals with convictions other than a minor traffic violation obtain a criminal clearance from the Department of Health Services before registering for this class.
Class meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and 2 Saturdays - times and dates TBD.
Culinary Arts Internship - Tustin HS

Prepare for a career as a chef in a fine restaurant or hotel. Learn safety and sanitation, knife skills, cooking techniques, and food service procedures.
To meet UC/CSU admission requirement (“G” credit), students must earn a grade of 70% or better.
Certification: Students will have the opportunity to test for and receive a ServSafe Food Handler Certificate.
Prerequisites: Students must be at least 16 years of age. Students must be responsible for their own transportation to and from the internship site. Students must take and pass ServSafe Food Handler test prior to placement at an internship site; test administered during course hours. Students must earn a grade of 70% or better in the classroom portion of the course to be placed at an internship.
Required Materials: Blue pants and black leather shoes with rubber soles required.

Medical Nursing Careers Internship - Presidio Campus

Learn the necessary skills to become a nurse assistant. Develop knowledge of anatomy, infection control, vital signs, personal patient care, ethics, and medical terminology. After initial classroom instruction, intern at a local hospital.
To meet the UC/CSU admission requirements (“G” credit), students must earn a grade of 70% or better.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health occupations classes include the study of reproductive and other systems and require practicing procedures on other students and/or patients, both male and female, of differing ages. Participation in these activities is required for a certificate of completion and continuation in the career pathway. Additionally, these classes may require heavy lifting and bending. Lastly, some programs require the submission of personal information, such as DOB and social security number, with state agencies and/or clinical internship partners due to licensing and security clearance requirements.
Certification: Students must attend one five-hour session on a weekday evening or a Saturday for the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers card. Sessions are held at local schools or at the Presidio Campus in Costa Mesa. Students will sign up online during the second week of class.
Prerequisites: Students must be 16 years of age and preference is given to seniors. Students must be responsible for their own transportation to and from the internship site. Physical exam, TB clearance and vaccinations required for all students prior to internship. Students must earn a grade of 70% or better in the classroom portion of the course to be placed at an internship. Students must complete Live Scan fingerprinting to attend internship.
Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, plus 1 Saturday for 5 hours for CPR Training - date and time TBD.

Pharmacy Technician Internship - Creekside HS

Prepare for employment in various pharmacy settings. Class instruction includes; medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacy law, metric and apothecary systems, drug requirements, and dispensing prescriptions. After initial classroom instruction, intern in a pharmacy setting.
To meet UC/CSU admission requirement (“G” credit), students must complete a full year (two semesters) of the class and earn a grade of 70% or better.

Students are expected to complete three (3) additional hours of online instruction each week in the first semester (Fall). The Online component includes discussion board participation, written assignments, and assessments.
Fall Semester: Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:45 PM to 7:45 PM and students are expected to complete 3 additional hours of online instruction each week.
Spring Semester: Class meets Tuesdays, Thursday, & Fridays, from 3:45 PM to 7:45 PM.
Sports Medicine Internship - Creekside HS

Prepare for a career in the Sports Medicine Industry. This internship course will provide students with direct practical experience and training in the rehabilitation field. Students will expand and refine their skills and knowledge in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of injuries as well as fitness and athletic preparation in a clinical setting.
To meet UC/CSU admission requirement (“F” credit), students must complete two semesters of the course and earn a grade of 70% or better.
Prerequisites: Completion of one year of a sports medicine course is strongly reccommended. Students must be at least 16 years of age. Students must be responsible for their own transportation to and from the internship site.

Automotive Technology Internship - University HS

Prepare for a career in the automotive industry. Learn about tune-ups, lubrication, brakes, suspension, power train systems theory, diagnosis, and repair. After initial classroom instruction, intern at an automotive repair facility.
To meet the UC/CSU admission requirements (“G” credit), students must earn a grade of 70% or better.

Careers With Children Internship - Creekside HS

Students participating in Coastline ROP internship classes must adhere to the policies and procedures of their assigned site. This may include being vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19.

Explore the field of early childhood education. Focus on child growth and development, health, safety and nutrition, classroom management techniques, and curriculum. After initial classroom instruction, deliver lessons to students while interning at local preschools or child care facilities.
To meet the UC/CSU admission requirements (“G” credit), students must earn a grade of 70% or better.
Students must earn a grade of 70% or better in the classroom portion of the course to be placed at an internship site.
Certification: Meet eligibility requirements to apply for the Child Development Assistant Permit.
Prerequisites: Students must be at least 16 years of age. Students must be responsible for their own transportation to and from the internship site. TB clearance and proof of MMR and DTaP immunizations required for all students prior to placement at an internship site.
