Participants will explore advanced concepts in business operations, strategy, innovation, marketing, financial management, and global entrepreneurship. The course emphasizes practical applications, case studies, and real-world scenarios to equip students with the strategic thinking and decision-making skills necessary for entrepreneurial success.

Addressing complexities like regulatory compliance, ethics, geopolitics, and sustainability, discussions dissect implications for stakeholders and society. Students emerge equipped with analytical skills and strategic foresight to excel in the dynamic supply chain landscape.

This advanced-level course builds upon foundational cosmetology concepts, focusing on artistic expression and design. Emphasizing the visual and aesthetic elements of the beauty industry, students explore cosmetology as a visual and performing art. This UCapproved VAPA (F) course offers advanced skill development in hair design, nail technology, skincare, and makeup application. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students apply principles of color theory, symmetry, proportion, and texture. Emphasis is placed on portfolio creation, client consultation, business branding, and entrepreneurship.

Pre-Requisite: Must have taken Principles of Cosmetology  previously. 

 Class meets on Mondays  and Wednesdays, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

UC / 5 credits  (must be a high school senior to enroll)

Learn about a career in the dental field. Examine the fundamentals and practice procedures needed to assist the dentist; instruction includes dental terminology and anatomy, identification and use of instruments, equipment sterilization procedures, and preparation of dental materials.

To meet UC/CSU admission requirement (“G” credit), students must complete the semester and earn a grade of 70% or better.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health occupations classes include the study of reproductive and other systems and require practicing procedures on other students and/or patients, both male, and female, of differing ages. Participation in these activities is required for a certificate of completion and continuation in the career pathway. Additionally, these classes may require heavy lifting and bending. Lastly, some programs require the submission of personal information, such as DOB and a social security number, with state agencies and/or clinical internship partners due to licensing and security clearance requirements.

Certification: Students will have an opportunity to earn a Dental Practice Act and Infection Control certificate upon successful completion of the exams and course. Students must attend one five-hour session on a weekday evening or a Saturday for the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers card. Sessions are held at local schools or at the Presidio Campus in Costa Mesa. Students will sign up online during the second week of class.

Prerequisites: Must be a high school senior to enroll. TB clearance and proof of Hepatitis B vaccination are required prior to lab activities.

Class meet Mondays  in person from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. 

Class meet Wednesdays online from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  

This advanced course provides students with hands-on experience in a simulated manufacturing environment that mirrors modern industry practices. Students will apply engineering and manufacturing principles while participating in production processes that emphasize workplace safety, quality control, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Through collaborative projects, students will learn and implement lean manufacturing concepts, process mapping, inventory management, assembly line operations, and problem-solving strategies. Students will analyze production systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop solutions that increase productivity and product quality. Using industry-standard tools, equipment, and manufacturing techniques, students will gain technical and professional skills valued by employers. This course prepares students for postsecondary education and careers in manufacturing, engineering, industrial technology, logistics, and related fields.

Class meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 4pm -7pm 

UC / Articulated / 5 credits

Prepare for a career in the automotive industry. Learn about tune-ups, lubrication, brakes, suspension, power train systems theory, diagnosis, and repair. After initial classroom instruction, intern at an automotive repair facility. 

To meet the UC/CSU admission requirements (“G” credit), students must complete the semester and earn a grade of 70% or better.

Students must earn a grade of 70% or better in the classroom portion of the course to be placed at an internship site.

Prerequisites:  Students must be at least 16 years of age. Students must be responsible for their own transportation to and from the internship site. Completion of one year of an automotive course is strongly reccommended.
