Crime Scene Investigation (Semester) - Mission Viejo HS

Explore the world of forensic science and crime scene investigation. Understand the nature and importance of physical evidence in solving crimes and how to collect and process that evidence. Learn skills and techniques used by crime scene investigators to diagram and photograph crime scenes, dust and lift fingerprints, and perform gunshot residue tests. Explore careers in law enforcement and administration of justice.

Note: Some field trips may take place outside of regular school hours. Participation in field trips is optional. 

To meet the UC/CSU admission requirements (“G” credit), students must complete the semester and earn a grade of 70% or better.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Public Services classes are designed to give students both the theory and hands-on experience in the skills and knowledge required in these fields. Classroom instruction may include real depictions of graphic or violent content. Some topics in the Administration of Justice and Crime Scene Investigation classes may be sensitive to high school students. Lastly, some programs require the submission of personal information, such as DOB and social security numbers, with state agencies and/or clinical internship partners due to licensing and security clearance requirements.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of the Administration of Justice course recommended.

Class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
