Develop the skills and knowledge required for success in the medical fi eld. Learn ethical and legal responsibilities of the health care worker, safety, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, body systems and mechanics, standard precautions, and health and fitness.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health occupations classes include the study of reproductive and other systems and require practicing procedures on other students and/or patients, both male, and female, of differing ages. Participation in these activities is required for a certificate of completion and continuation in the career pathway. Additionally, these classes may require heavy lifting and bending. Lastly, some programs require the submission of personal information, such as DOB and social security numbers, with state agencies and/or clinical internship partners due to licensing and security clearance requirements.
To meet UC/CSU admission requirement (“G” credit), students must complete the semester and must earn a grade of 70% or better.
Certification: Students will have an opportunity to earn an American Heart Association CPR Healthcare Provider Card.
Class meets Mondays and Wednesdays, from 2:15 PM to 5:15 PM.
