UC/10 credits per semester (year-long class) 

Prepare for employment in various pharmacy settings. Class instruction includes; medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacy law, metric and apothecary systems, drug requirements, and dispensing prescriptions. After initial classroom instruction, intern in a pharmacy setting.

To meet UC/CSU admission requirement (“G” credit), students must complete a full year (two semesters) of the class and earn a grade of 70% or better.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health occupations classes include the study of reproductive and other systems and require practicing procedures on other students and/or patients, both male, and female, of differing ages. Participation in these activities is required for a certificate of completion and continuation in the career pathway. Additionally, these classes may require heavy lifting and bending. Lastly, some programs require the submission of personal information, such as DOB and social security numbers, with state agencies and/or clinical internship partners due to licensing and security clearance requirements.

Certification: Meet eligibility requirements to apply for the Pharmacy Technician License through the California State Board of Pharmacy upon successful completion of the course with a 70% or better.

Required Hours: Students must be at least 16 years of age and a senior (grade 12). Students must be responsible for their own transportation to and from the internship site. Students are expected to complete three (3) additional hours of online instruction each week in the first semester (Fall). The Online component includes discussion board participation, written assignments, and assessments.

Fall Semester: Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:45 PM to 7:45 PM and students are expected to complete 3 additional hours of online instruction each week. 

Spring Semester: Class meets Tuesdays, Thursday, & Fridays, from 3:45 PM to 7:45 PM.
