Construction - BITA 1 Found. of Residential & Commercial (Yearlong) - Creekside HS

UC / 5 credits per semester (yearlong class)

Do you have an interest in construction and/or architecture? Learn the basic skills required of the construction trades in this hands-on class! The focus of this course is on building design, performance, sustainability, and the manner in which residential and commercial structures are designed and built. Students learn industry-standard safety habits and procedures, vocabulary, use of hand and power tools, blueprint reading, and measurement and estimating. During simulated builds, students acquire experience working with building materials. Participate in construction competition opportunities during the year.

To meet UC/CSU admission requirement (“G” credit), students must complete a full year (two semesters) of the course and earn a grade of 70% or better.

Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Construction Technology Pre-Apprenticeship (Yearlong) - Estancia HS

UC / Articulated / 5 credits per semester  (yearlong class)

Students will acquire the advanced skills to prepare for a career in the construction industry. Participants will learn about blueprint reading, basic plumbing, electrical, masonry, glass, tile, flooring, drywall, carpentry, and roofing repairs. Students will also learn these hands-on skills and exposure to future college and career opportunities within the industry.

To meet the UC/CSU admission requirements (“G” credit), students must complete a full year (two semesters) of the course and earn a grade of 70% or better.

Class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 4:15 PM to 7:15 PM
